Rate Limits

The API applies rate limits per APIKey and per Endpoint. Rate limits are defined by:
  • Rate: total number of requests per hour
  • Quota: total number of requests per 24 hours (per day)

Normal Rate Limits

Notes

The API provides information about rate limit usage through response headers: When the rate limit is exceeded, the system returns HTTP 429 (Too Many Requests)

Recommendations

  • Distribute API calls evenly across time intervals to avoid exceeding rate limits
  • Cache infrequently changing data on the client side to reduce unnecessary requests
  • Prioritize using APIs that support bulk data processing in a single call when available
  • Use WebSocket connections for real-time data to reduce the number of HTTP requests
  • Implement exponential backoff strategy when receiving a 429 response
  • Consider aggregating requests during peak usage times
  • Set up monitoring and alerting for rate limit violations
